The initial course I developed for the Summer of 2025 was very well received. I am going to follow it with a new defense series. The topics will help answer questions that you always face on defense.

It is one thing to know how to count winners and losers. It is equally important to understand how to apply this information effectively when planning how to make the hand.

Online Friday Nov 14th (also in person and live-streamed Tuesdays 9:30 -11:30 AM starting Jan 13, 2026)

The Beginner Courses are intended for those who are absolute beginners. Often those who haven’t played in many years also start here. Most classes are in person and simultaneously live-streamed, allowing for remote participation. However, the course starting Nov. 14th will be online only. You will find online lessons to be extremely productive. The Jan 13th class will be in person and simultaneously live-streamed, allowing for remote participation.

You learned about no trump contracts. Time to learn about suit or trump contracts.

In order to better communicate with your partner through bids, you will be introduced to your first two bidding conventions.

Beginning Mon Oct 27th.

The first series of Just Beyond Beginner Bridge focuses on 2 over 1, Forcing NT and slam bidding with 1430 keycard Blackwood.

Nov 13 - Jan 22, 2026 in person and live streamed. (Also online Mon evenings 7-9 PM  starting Jan 5, 2026.)

In series 2, you will learn control bids. We discuss alternative game forcing bids to 2 over 1. Then we work on more slam bidding.

In person and live streamed Jan 29- March 19, 2026

We don't want you apologizing to your partner for misplaying a hand. I want them to say, "Great Job Partner!" In this course, we will learn play of the hand techniques that will improve your chances of succeeding to make your contracts. Expect to be challenged and enlightened.

In Just Beyond Beginner Bridge series 4, we will learn more play of the hand techniques to improve your chances of succeeding in making your contracts.

Sometimes you need more bidding tools to accurately describe your hand. Series 5 will teach you next level bidding conventions.

Figuring out how to develop a plan on defense can be challenging. The declarer might be in their optimal contract, but with effective planning, you might still be able to defeat them.
